Art and Craft Class mixed media
The first thing I teach my students is confidence and enjoyment of art.
At the beginning of term they learn how to use watercolour, pastels, sharpies, poster paint, acrylics.
There is no pressure to draw at this stage as the emphasis is on enjoying the process finishing pieces of work they can be proud of and getting to know me.
I gradually introduce guided drawing during the term and we will start to explore pencil, watercolour pencils, colouring pencils explaining how they work and how they can be used with other media. We will also be making cards and paper Colage. We will start craft work later in each term. Air dry clay ceramics.
Advanced Drawing class
I teach my students how to draw in proportion. We work with pencils, ink, watercolour, charcoal and fine line pens. During the year students will also work on individual pieces that are personal to them.
I have developed a drawing method that is taught and must be practiced. I expect my students at this level to do drawing practice at home.
It is a parents and child’s decision as to which class is best suited to them. I have found that some children aged 7 and 8 are able for advanced drawing class and some children aged 9 and 10 are not.
Students have to want to learn to draw.
I always ask do you want to learn to draw?
If the answer is no then they need to be in my mixed media art class.
Fiona’s art class starts back on Tuesday 19th of September classes will be run subject to numbers in Presentation primary school Terenure.
